TCNA Handbook for Ceramic, Glass and Stone Tile Installation
TSC provides complimentary copies of the TCNA Handbook for Ceramic, Glass and Stone Tile Installation to architects, designers and related industry professionals working in the San Francisco Bay Area or Northern California in limited quantities, additional copies can be purchased through TSC.
ANSI recognizes trade contractors in various regions of the country may not use every standard set forth by TCNA and reported in ANSI’s Specifications for Installation of Ceramic Tile, as the standards governing installation means and methods vary from region to region. Installation methods adopted by the trade in a particular region – and taught in area apprenticeship training programs – are identified as Local Trade Practices, which represent the applicable standard of installation in that region.
TCNA acknowledges “some installation methods and materials are not recognized and may not be suitable in some geographical areas because of local trade practice, climate conditions, or construction methods. Therefore, while the goal of the conference for the TCNA handbook is to produce accurate guidelines, they should be used only with independent approval of technically qualified persons. All specifications for ceramic tile installations must conform to local building codes, ordinances, trade standards and practices.”
